Puppies:

Research the breed to give yourself an insight of the dog you have chosen to make part of your family for life. Too many Weimaraners are brought into the rescue services through poor knowledge of the breed characteristics, so think very carefully.

Before you
make a decision to purchase a Weimaraner puppy please read the 'The Breed' page for characteristics, click here , and the 'Breed Standard', click here.

PLEASE NOTE: BLUE IS NOT A RECOGNISED COLOUR OF THE WEIMARANER.

Make your purchase wisely, ask to see the mother. Be aware of the conditions the puppy has been brought up in. Will you get support from the breeder after purchase? Avoid all newspaper advertisements and commercial puppy selling websites.

Ask yourself a few honest questions before you commit:
Can I devote the time and patience needed to train the small
cute puppy who will soon turn into a big boisterous dog?

Will I be around during the day to attend to its needs?

When it jumps up at me, play nips me or counter surfs and pinches food, or empties the bin because I haven't disciplined it as a puppy will I blame the dog or myself?

Will I love it when it chews my precious shoes, glasses, phone or tv remote control because the dog got bored and I left them lying around? Will I get cross?

Will I love it when it is unwell, sick, poops or pees on the carpet?

Will I love it when it barks, or wakes me up in the middle of the night when it
needs to go out?

Will I love it when it digs a big hole in the middle of my lawn or flower bed?

Will I exercise my dog whatever the weather? And be happy with dirty floors for a possible 14 years!
